In connection with the sale of batteries and accumulators, we as dealers are obliged in accordance with the Battery Act to point out the following to you as a consumer: You are legally obliged to return batteries and accumulators. You can send them back to us after use, at a municipal collection point or free of charge at a local store. Products are marked as follows: These symbols mean that batteries and accumulators must not be disposed of with household waste by the consumer and that batteries containing pollutants are marked with one of these symbols, consisting of a crossed-out garbage can and the chemical symbol for classification as a key pollutant heavy metal. 

The symbols mentioned above mean in detail: 

Pb = Battery contains lead

Cd = Battery contains cadmium

Hg = Battery contains mercury

Notice regarding lithium batteries/accumulators 

You can recognize lithium batteries or accumulators by the chemical symbol “Li”. These also fall under the battery law. In addition to the information presented above, we would like to point out the following: Please ensure that when returning lithium batteries or accumulators or handing them over to collection containers for used batteries at retailers and public waste disposal providers, the batteries or accumulators are completely discharged. In addition, we ask you to use the symbols 

Insulate the contact surfaces of the batteries or accumulators marked “+” and “-” with adhesive tape to avoid any risk of fire.

In connection with the sale of batteries and rechargeable batteries, we are obliged as a dealer under the Battery Act to inform you as a consumer of the following: You are legally obliged to return batteries and rechargeable batteries. You can send them back to us after use, return them to a municipal collection point or return them free of charge to your local retailer. Products are marked as follows: These signs mean that batteries and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of in the household waste by the consumer and that batteries containing harmful substances are marked with one of these signs, consisting of a crossed-out garbage can and the chemical symbol of the heavy metal that is decisive for the classification as containing harmful substances.
